However without that I just find myself being pulled out each time anything ridiculous/stupid/overwhelmingly unlikely occurs.Khazidheahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10833833078199356986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-228678769273144852.post-36328001032914870652012-12-17T05:27:47.578-08:002012-12-17T05:27:47.578-08:00I've just caught up on the last five episodes ...I've just caught up on the last five episodes of Arrow, and I can fully see why you're dropping it. It's poorly paced, with some shadowy stuff going on in the background but no real stakes, has bland characters with uninteresting interactions, and the dialogue is ridiculous (from episode 8: "Maybe I thought the universe owed me one," says the billionaire son of a billionaire to an Afghanistan veteran). Even so there are parts I enjoy, such as the island flashbacks, and even the action sequence from the latest ep, but it seems that for every better part there's something awful to balance it out (any use of technology from the same ep).

The frustrating part is that it could easily be a better show without too much extra effort. Tightening up the script and cutting out the fluff and repetition would go a long way. I can see this show improving next season, just there's no reason to keep watching now.Khazidheahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10833833078199356986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-228678769273144852.post-89602935641354353932012-12-14T07:17:40.692-08:002012-12-14T07:17:40.692-08:00Then it's probably good you watch Newsroom fir...Then it's probably good you watch Newsroom first, so you can enjoy them both in time, haha.Ern and Leeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02222918254913939721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-228678769273144852.post-75982962219354021672012-12-14T07:05:45.675-08:002012-12-14T07:05:45.675-08:00I've heard the West Wing is good, but not havi...I've heard the West Wing is good, but not having watched it is probably the reason I enjoyed the Newsroom, with nothing better to compare it to.Khazidheahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10833833078199356986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-228678769273144852.post-8315174675469554842012-12-13T21:58:15.692-08:002012-12-13T21:58:15.692-08:00Yeah, we saw the Revolution finale. ...Yeah, we saw the Revolution finale. It was okay.

Leeard watches The Newsroom and thinks it's was alright, but she recommended that I just watch The West Wing if I wanted to watch a Sorkin TV show, because that was his best creation. Everyone says that all the Newsroom characters are sad knock-offs of his WW characters. So I started watching tWW and I enjoy it. I just finished season two. The finale was pretty good, though. I don't know much about him from the comics, but he'd probably work better as an established character rather than having an origin story, as he's too similar to Batman at the moment without being very distinct or interesting. And I know they're setting up some of his more iconic stuff for later (Black Canary etc), but that doesn't help for the present, as waiting for the show to be good doesn't help the current season.

No opinion of the upcoming webseries, but Nightwing as a character could work really well as an ongoing series. He's got the Batman universe to play in, but is far enough removed to do his own thing and have his own story, with cameos and occasional teamups as needed. An origin story would actually work well in this case, if we started from when he first becomes Nightwing after falling out with Batman when he outgrows being his sidekick as Robin. Plus he's relatively well known, and has a similar enough skillset to Batman to be entertaining, but he actually has fun while doing it, and is much more of a people person.

I'm even further behind in Revolution, planning on catching up, but is it worth watching yet? Also, unrelated, did you ever end up watching The Newsroom? I highly enjoyed it.Khazidheahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10833833078199356986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-228678769273144852.post-87572705758100544502012-12-13T13:18:01.026-08:002012-12-13T13:18:01.026-08:00I still have trust in Revolution becoming better. ...I still have trust in Revolution becoming better. It's not too boring and it's not too horrible and it's enough for me to give it a season or two. Much better then Revolution (Different shows but yeah) I also wouldn't want to put this on the pile of shows I want to catch up on. There are so many and I feel like there is never time to catch up to them but I have the time to watch them weekly. (I watch like 3-6 hours of TV every night. haha)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
