Keep on Rowing- Why did this air on new year's? We almost missed it. The LIBRARY was closed on new year's day, and a network station is airing an important episode of one of its best shows? "Important, you say?" Yes, because this is the one where Kristina thought it would be empowering to shave her head. Guess what? It wasn't. She only lost one tuft. We say, if you have cancer, wait until it looks thin and then shave it. Keep that hair as long as possible, even if it's just a couple of days, jeez.

We loved Kristina's new red wig. This is the best she's ever looked. No way does she look 27, even remotely. The actress is 41, playing a character who is 34, which is the age she could pass for, but not the age she really looks. The actor playing her husband is 47. They both look good, but they look older than early 30s.

The Sarah and Hank stuff was adorbs. We cringe at the thought that Jasmine's mom might bring more religion into this show, and we don't really want to see it, even though this show handles sensitive things well most of the time. We loved the way the mom handled the situation with Crosby, addressing the elephant in the room and thanking him right off the bat.

Now THIS is what we expected with Victor. Julia and Joel have to stick with it though. We've heard people saying that the adoption isn't working and the show should give the subplot up. No freaking way. That sends a horrible message about adoption, and it would be cruel to Viktor, a kid who would have trouble finding another forever home at his age (and brown color). Get used to it, people. Victor is staying. We like that it's getting hard though. Julia should have told Victor that he can see his mom when he is 18 because then the courts will allow it. That way he knows that he isn't forced to give her up forever.

People are also talking about how Julia comes off as cold and a bad mother. We say give her a break. She's not terrible or abusive in any way. Not all mothers have to be Glinda the Good Witch on the Wizard of Oz or the president of your sorority. Julia's smart and she can make it work. She's had warm moments. They are in there. She'll figure it out. If Julia were a dude saying and doing all that she has on the show, people would think she was warm. Think about it.

The TV is coming back, guys. Yay!

  1. How is Kristina 34? Hattie is at least 17/18, meaning she had her when she was 16/17. That doesn't make any sense in the context of the show.

    1. Haddie has to be 18, right? It's her first year of college. Maybe Kristina and Adam were high school sweethearts and he knocked her up?

    2. I thought they met in college... perhaps the show just messed this one up, or kristina was lying.

    3. You could be right. Shows mess stuff like this up all the time. And people lie about their ages all the time. Either/or. It's a clumsy mistake, and one that's beneath the show. Shows shouldn't reveal ages, I think. It's too risky, because you always have to make sure your on-timeline, and it could limit your options later.

  2. Yall don't have to worry. Parenthood did basically the same numbers it usually does.

  3. I thought this was a very good episode. I liked all the storylines. Although, I was also confused by the age thing with Kristina. I just don't see her getting prego in high school...She & Adam both seem too responsible for that

    1. Some people can be as dumb as a bag of blonde hair in high school and then mature by, like, age 25/26. My dad, for instance, used to throw beer bottles at street lights, put lit matches in buckets of gasoline, accidentally set a garage on fire, drove a car with no floor, got in fights, and got a girl pregnant (Mom, lol). Now, he's the squarest person ever.
