- Awkward
- The Big Bang Theory
- Cougar Town
- Girls
- Happy Endings
- How I Met Your Mother (the first five seasons only; it kind of sucks now)
- The Office (the first five seasons only, Steve Carell's exit episode, and the finale)
- Louie
- Modern Family
- New Girl
- Parks and Recreation
- Web Therapy
- Suburgatory
- South Park
DRAMAS
- Breaking Bad
- The Vampire Diaries
- Being Human
- Sherlock
- The Walking Dead
- Mad Men
- Pretty Little Liars (no, seriously)
- Scandal
- Castle
- Dexter (except season 6; just watch the finale of that season)
- Once Upon a Time
- Parenthood
- Downton Abbey
- The Good Wife
- Grey's Anatomy (with the exception of a few episodes. When it's bad, it's horrid)
- Game of Thrones
- Homeland
- Justified (for the dialogue)
- House of Cards
Wooh. Love this list. THANKS!
ReplyDeleteJustified for everything. :D
Suggestion: You should make more categories that fits the genre of the shows. Action, Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror, British shows, Dramedy, Cartoons, etc. This way some shows can also get a bit more noticed.
We actually thought of doing that, but I got lazy. Maybe when there are more shows to sort...Like when they top 100, they will need more sorting.
DeleteAlso, Justified can be slow for us, and we don't care about any of the characters. But the dialogue is some of the best we've ever heard, anywhere.
DeleteThe baddies are good too.
There is no other drama on TV (at least imo) that makes it entertaining to only hear just the diaglogue and that's what so great about Justified.
DeleteI find it entertaining hearing some of the stuff on New Girl as well...hardly any boring lines.
That's very true. Maybe some episodes of Louie are like that too. The ones where they talk a lot, rather than the moody ones where he walks around, lol
DeleteHave you guys checked out House of Cards? Finishing the first episode now and so far it's alright...
ReplyDeleteWe're about where you are. Almost done with episode one, but the weekend is distracting us from tv and this blog (as you cans see from the lack of posts). And yeah, don't love it, don't hate it.
DeleteOkay 2nd and 3rd episode got better for me. Still not as good or as entertaining as most of the stuff on HBO, SHO, AMC, FX, etc.
ReplyDelete..even though they are not similar, I liked Boss a little more.
DeleteThe Americans, House of Cards, The Following, The Carrie Diaries, Ripper Street and Banshee are all great shows and a great start for the year. Love The Americans. Also, Continuum. Though, that already aired in Canada. (I did not end up watching the show when it first aired so I'm watching it mostly by the U.S. schedule even though I have all the episodes available.)
Btw, did you guys like Continuum overall? I remember you reviewed a couple of episodes a while back..
DeleteYeah, we liked it. School got crazy, so we had to stop reviewing it, but we turned a few people onto the show by reviewing the first couple, so that's what's important.
DeleteAlso, both AMC and HBO wanted House of Cards, but Netflix offered more money and total creative control.
and 2 seasons or something, right? :P But thats cool....more money and creative control. I'm planning on watching Ripper Street. I thought it was going to be a mini series but ended up getting renewed for a 2nd season.
DeleteLet us know how it is.
DeleteI'm going to have to drop a couple of shows. Too much on my schedule, haha. I dropped Vegas, The Neighbors, and I might drop out of Smash. (I think Nashville and Glee are enough. Nashville has a nice feel/tone for it so far...and it's enough for me to give it time. Glee because it's mostly just fun to watch.) The Mindy Project is watchable but wouldn't care if it were canceled. Ben & Kate deserves to live!! :'(
ReplyDeleteI want Pretty Little Liars to end in 2 seasons...I don't want to drop the show but beyond that is too long for me to handle the mystery.
Yay @ How I Met Your Mother ending. Mondays have become packed for me now. haha...used to be the least watched night for a while for me.
Once Dexter ends, that will clear one less show and possibly add one new show on Sunday. (possibly more) I think it needs one more season after this coming season, though.
Waiting for Bates Motel, Defiance, and Hannibal. Those sound pretty exciting. :)
Great shows of the year so far:
- Banshee
- House of Cards
- The Americans
- The Carrie Diaries
- The Following
Gotta check out:
- Ripper Street
Also, Dragon: Riders of the Berk (started out last season...It's a How to Train Your Dragon series and it looks really good and I heard great things about it)
It happens. If I were you though, I'd watch a few of this season's Smash episodes, since they are overhauling it and making so many changes.
ReplyDeleteWell...the ratings are in and the show flopped. I'll wait to see next week's numbers.
DeleteWhat about Castle? I'm so sad that one of my favourite shows isn't included in the list.
ReplyDeleteObviously that means Leeard didn't edit this list....That's one of her favorite shows. I've still only seen a few episodes, but I'll add it on her behalf.
Deletewe love that show, lol
ReplyDeletewhere's the middle? Would seriously recommend it!
ReplyDeleteIt's not really our kind of comedy (it's probably targeting an older crowd), so we haven't really given it a chance, but we hear great things about it.
DeleteWell I wouldn't be part of an older crowd target audience as I'm 18 and neither would my friends who recommended it. Just thought I'd give it a mention anyways as I agree with your list and everything I watch is on it bar The Middle!
DeleteWe'll put it on our list then. Thanks :-)
DeleteAnd thanks to your blog I've started watching Community and Cougar Town and really enjoying both. Thanks!
Delete*list of things we still need to watch, I mean
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest = MUST
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've watched the first season. I want to watch more, and it's pretty good, but I'm not QUITE ready to put it on the list yet. We shall see.
Delete3 months in and we have shows like Banshee, The Americans, House of Cards, The Carrie Diaries. I also enjoy The Following (I know it has plenty of problems) Tomorrow is the premier of Bates Motel (yall going to watch it?) In a month, Defiance and Hannibal. This year seems like it's going to be the best or one of the best years of TV. TV is not dead.
ReplyDeleteWe don't think it will die for a loooong time
DeleteAgreed! A&E and BBC America are stepping up their game as well...as well as premium networks such as Starz and Cinemax.
DeleteWhat about Supernatural????? One of the best shows on today...
ReplyDeleteI have a special place in my heart for that show and I still watch it. But it's about three years past the quality needed for this list. Seasons 2-5 were gold. 6-7 were horrible. 8 is just alright. If the quality ever goes back to 2-5, we'll put it up here.
DeleteDo you guys watch Orphan Black? It's actually a really good show. I think if you enjoyed the acting performance by Toni Collette on United States of Tara, you'll enjoy this one (multiple characters). Not similar shows...but yeah...it's fun to watch and smart.
ReplyDeleteThanks! We'll check it out
Deletemany of my friends watch PLL, what are your thoughts on it? Should I see it? I do love mysteries!
ReplyDeleteWatch it.
DeleteYES! WATCH IT. PRETTY LITTLE LIARS IS THE BEST SHOW IN THE WORLD.. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
Deletehttp://becausewewatchtoomuchtv.blogspot.com/2011/06/summary-of-pretty-little-liars-season.html
DeleteRead the first parts of this for a premise of PLL
lol that's my favorite show it's literally perfect
ReplyDeleteif you were to pick a top 5 for the dramas what would it be?
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad
DeleteGame of Thrones
Mad Men
Dexter (except season 6)
Parenthood
That was hard
sherlock or supernatural?
ReplyDeleteAs far as quality, Sherlock. But Sherlock only has three episodes. Granted, they are long episodes and more like mini movies, but it's a lot easier to make sure your three episodes per season are quality than to sustain greatness over 22 episodes per season for eight years. And Sherlock has Doyle's stories to draw heavily from. Sherlock is a great character and Benedict Cumberbatch plays him with all the Asperger's Sherlock deserves. We love when that side of him is fully tapped.
DeleteSupernatural isn't technically as good and it has some God-awful hours, but we prefer it just because we've spent more time with the boys. They are both shows a person can get obsessed with and they are both good.
Supernatural isn't on this list bc it hasn't been great since seasons 4-5.
Deletewhat about revenge? season 2 was amazing, especially the finale. that's great television.
ReplyDeleteDisagree. Revenge ssn 2 waffled between boring and stupid. The finales of that show are always good, but the middle pulls it down
Deletepretty little liars, really? please tell me your rationale for still liking/watching it. you have such lucid observation on other shows I just find it hard to believe you see any salvage-able quality in it, especially this season.
