5 things we’ll miss about Chuck (and 3 we won’t)

With Chuck ending its 5 year run tonight, we thought we’d reminisce about our favorite (and least favorite) parts of this charmingly nerdy show.

Things we’ll miss:
1. John Casey: He’s easily one of the best parts of this show, and has remained that while our interest in Chuck and Sarah has drastically decreased over the past 2 seasons. We don’t even mind that they gave him a daughter, which we usually do (see Luke Danes, Gilmore Girls).
2. Ellie and Awesome: One of the most adorable, fully functional, completely in love couples on tv in recent memory. They’ve definitely changed since having Clara, but they’re still a couple we aspire to be like.
3. The Chuck and Morgan friendship: We love this relationship too. They’ve had their arguments, which is completely normal, but they’ve always gotten over them and realized that they do love each other. These two would obviously do anything for each other, and have. In general, their friendship is a great example of true love. Forget Chuck and Sarah, we’ll miss Chuck and Morgan.
4.  The Buy More: We mainly liked confining the cast of weirdos to this place. It could be a nice change of pace from the spy world. When the original Buy More blew up, we were kind of bummed. Luckily, Carmichael Industries was able to rebuild it and use it as their headquarters.
5. Zachary Levi: There were times when we didn’t understand why Chuck was acting in a certain way, but we always appreciated how Zachary Levi brought him to life. In other hands, Chuck might have turned unsympathetic, especially after losing the Intersect. Luckily, Zachary Levi still made us root for the most adorable nerd since The O.C.’s Seth Cohen.

Things we won’t miss:
1. Jeff and Lester: During the first season, we didn’t mind them. They were pretty small characters, and we could handle them in small doses. Even the first instance of Jeffster! was fine. After 5 seasons though, we’re thankful we don’t have to see them anymore. We do have to say, though, that we liked making Jeff saner (and having them both figure out the spy secret). An interesting development for them, finally.
2. Everyone having the Intersect: We know other places have complained about this before, but it really negates most of the first, awesome season if both Morgan and Sarah can handle having the Intersect in their brains. Part of what made Chuck so compelling originally was having this special character who was needed by the government. Taking away his uniqueness, to us, diminishes part of the beginning of the series.
3. The massive inconsistencies: In addition to everyone and their mother having the Intersect, we also won't miss sloppy plotting (like bringing all of the villains to Castle and still thinking of it as a safe location).

Regardless of what we will and won’t miss, we’re glad we’ve had 5 seasons with this little show that could. We’re especially glad that the show runners got 13 episodes to wrap it up, even if we didn’t like some of the things that happened at the end. Now we can go back to eating Quizno's instead of Subway.

Shows That Are In Trouble

We are dancing on the clouds about Fringe, Community, Parks and Rec, and Southland getting renewed. (Wow, that sounded less gay in our heads, but still. It’s accurate.)

Here are the shows that we want to see stick around that still haven’t been renewed…and the shows we hate and want to see go away. Their slots can go to good, new shows. Possibly. As for the ones we don’t mention: we either don’t care or we don't think the show is in enough danger to be on this list.

Our struggling favorites:

Chuck - Leeard is a beyond-faithful fan of Chuck, and Ern watches it when it’s on and she has nothing better to do. Still, both of us would like to see this cult fave survive yet again.

Outsourced - It’s offensive. Blah blah blah. What matters is that it’s really funny.

Off the Map - How are the Grey’s and Private Practice fans not watching this? Yeah, the pilot was awful and some episodes are cheesy. But the last episode was devoid of cheese and it’s getting better. It deserves a season two.

Lie to Me - The concept alone is worth keeping this show for. It’s been much better since they got rid of the stifling FBI stuff. Also, if they just aggressively serialized a few more elements of the show (like Bones does with its characters), it could start getting intense and making people care about the characters.

Two and a Half Men - We know, we know. You’re thinking, “What blog is this?!! It’s been taken over by imposters!” But we think it would be extremely entertaining to watch the show replace Charlie Sheen and even more entertaining to watch Charlie Sheen react to getting replaced. It will be a train-wreck ending to a horrible show. After we happily watch its demise with a glass of wine and an evil laugh, the networks can totally cancel it.

Perfect Couples - It's a way funnier version of Better with You. It could grow into something hilarious.

Shows we want gone:

The Event - We hate this show for promising to bring us a LOST-meets-24 dynamic and giving us a show we couldn’t give two craps about.

Better with You - Unfunny, sexist dribble. No one cares. Leeard is actually still watching this show, but doesn't care if it's cancelled or not. That's not a good sign.

Detroit 1-8-7 - If this goes away, then maybe its fans will console themselves with Southland, which is so much better than this cop show.

V - Die V, die! This show got a miracle second season and then proceeded to squander it by being silly, boring, and the opposite of addictive. It gives serialized drama, which we usually love, a bad name.

Chuck Season Premiere

Here are our favorite things that happened in the fourth season premiere of Chuck:

· "Buddy. This is not the opening of a TV show. This is real life."
· Sarah and Chuck are still a happy couple.
· Dolph Lundgren as the villain (and saying "I must break you.").
· Casey (obviously) misses Chuck. One of the bloggers will always maintain that Casey is the best character on this show.
· Morgan thinking that sexting means "sex writing". Not that it's surprising, because we highly doubt anyone has ever sexted with Morgan.
· Holy crap the new Buy More is AWESOME. And General Beckman is the new store manager. And there's a trapdoor going from the Buy More down to Castle. So really, we love everything associated with the newly rebuilt and vastly improved Buy More.
· Chuck kicking everyone's ass, and then actually being pretty intimidating. We really enjoy Bad Ass Bartowski.
· Ellie is pregnant! Not that it wasn't completely predictable, but this development still made us happy. Ellie and Awesome are going to make great parents (not to mention the child is going to be BEAUTIFUL).
· Chuck is a spy again (like his whole "out of the spy game" thing was really going to last a long time).

The only things that were missing were Jeffster!, Big Mike, and Awesome. While it's been a whole summer without them, one of the bloggers isn't missing Jeff and Lester too much. They were a little too involved last season, and we like them in smaller doses. That being said, hopefully everyone will be back next week.

Episode Grade: B

Did we miss any of your favorite moments from the premiere? Let us know in the comments!

TV's Most Dateable Guys Part 1

A list for the ladies....
· Seeley Booth, Bones – He … We just … Yes. This man is everything.

· Smith Jerrod, Sex and the City—How great was this guy with Samantha? She cheats, he understands and takes her back. He sends her flowers, holds her hand, is super hot, doesn’t drink, and sticks by her through cancer (and shaves his head, making him look even hotter). Then she gave him up so she could spend more time focusing on herself. Ummm, we will focus on you forever Smith.

· Neal Caffrey, White Collar – There is nothing about Neal Caffrey that isn’t perfect. He’s charming, works with the FBI, knows his art, and is ridiculously attractive. As long as you can accept that pesky tracking anklet, he’s 100% dateable.

· Desmond Hume, LOST—Sawyer can be unstable, and unless you’re Juliet, he’s not gonna commit. Jack was hot, but he cried too much. Daniel looks like a hobbit (and science drove him crazy). Jin was controlling. Charlie was annoying. Who does that leave on LOST? Desmond, who looked awful nice in season 5 when he went to Oxford looking for Daniel in his scarf.

· Shawn Spencer, Psych – Can drop the most obscure, amazing reference whenever appropriate. Even if he weren’t cute, which he is, that would be enough.

· Jim Halpert, The Office—This is the "duh" choice of this list. We are pretty sure every female Office fan ever has said, "I would date Jim Halpert."If he weren’t so great with Pam, we'd want him with one of us. He’s funny, laid back, and loyal.

· Lane Elenburg, Big Brother – He’s amazing. Easily the most attractive and amusing (male) houseguest this season, and he genuinely seems like a good person. And hey, he might be $500,000 richer in a few days…

· Jon Stewart, The Daily Show—Witty, self-deprecating, and spewing more truthful takes on what’s going on than most news stations. And we don't discriminate against older hotties. This guy is married, but if he was not, we would date him. One of the bloggers' moms has said multiple times that this is the sort of man the blogger should end up with. We could argue with him all day… (the writers are a tad more conservative than Mr. Stewart.)

· Chuck Bartowski, Chuck – Super adorkable and very reminiscent of The O.C.’s Seth Cohen … If Seth had been a spy.

· Albie Manzo, The Real Housewives of New Jersey – We would honestly marry this man. Caroline Manzo, if you’re reading this, one of the bloggers is a well-educated, (part) Italian who would be an awesome daughter-in-law. Just thought we'd put it out there.

· Finn Hudson, Glee – Not the smartest guy on this list, but very sweet and generally means well. Definitely dateable.

· Damon Young, Make it or Break it – A cute, passionate rock star who supports his girlfriend? Yes please.
