Dear Pretty Little Liars fans

We looked at the blog's stats and noticed a decline since Pretty Little Liars went off the air. Don't worry, everyone else. We still have more than enough readers to make blogging worthwhile. However, we miss the PLL crowd. We know they are suffering without their favorite show and they are not forgotten here. If you are mainly a PLL fan, we still think you should stick around the blog, comment, make recommendations, and try to find other shows to watch. In order to convince you to stay and play with us, we have made this post which includes a list of other shows for you to check out, if you haven't already.

We sometimes cover movies and teen books too, and we never recommend anything we aren’t sure of. Our Hunger Games movie review is coming tomorrow. We watch multiple movies per week. Most of the fiction we read is young adult fiction because we want something light after our ridiculously boring, dense textbooks. We like to stay on top of books with buzz and new TV shows, so if the next big thing comes out, it’s possible that you will hear about it here first, before all the other wet blankets at your school hear about it and ruin it.

Also, Pretty Little Liars interviews and spoilers will come out in the weeks leading up to the season three premiere. If they are juicy, we will repeat and discuss them here. We will also make a new summary that incorporates the second season's events, and we need you to read it and tell us if it sucks. We also want to start making more fun lists like "the best TV villains" or "the best TV deaths." You know PLL will be mentioned on a lot of those.

Pretty Little Liars is a special show, in that it has mystery, scares, humor, fashion, high school drama, romance, and cool characters all wrapped up in one package. But there are other shows on TV that might appeal to its fans, even though there’s nothing else similar to it. The Lying Game is a little similar, but it’s not as good. We still enjoy watching it though. Season one just ended and you can catch up. The better option might be Revenge, which has mystery and a secret plotter trying to get payback. Catch up before the hiatus ends in April.

If you have a Netflix account, you can stream the first two seasons of Make It or Break It before the third season premieres next week. That’s also made by abcfamily, and it’s really intense and fun. It may be for a younger crowd, but it has so many likeable characters that you should check it out. If you like everything PLL has to offer and you also like fantasy, you really can’t go wrong with The Secret Circle or The Vampire Diaries, both of which are excellent, entertaining shows.

PLL fans might also enjoy Jane By Design, Switched at Birth, Hart of Dixie (which gets better as it goes along), and the underrated Teen Wolf, all shows that Leeard enjoys. Say you are looking to get into clever shows that are good for a more mature female viewer. If so, you can’t go wrong renting Veronica Mars or Gilmore Girls. The entertainment world is your oyster. There are more shows than PLL, and one day, there will be a new show premiering that you will end up liking just as much. Try a few of those shows out and come back in every couple of weeks and visit.

  1. Thank you for this post. :) I can't wait to read your Hunger Games review. I thought the movie was absolutely amazing when I saw it at midnight. I am loving the Secret Circle right now, so I hope you'll continue to recap it. I think it's a perfect show for Pretty Little Liars fans.

    1. So weird. We just decided to do a full Secret Circle recap, for once, and we hadn't yet read this comment. Don't worry. We will be watching that show fore a while. It's showing no signs of suckitude and we enjoy it more than most of the things we watch.

  2. Boobs! I see boobs! Guys should watch the show for the boobs alone. Pretty girls, "I want to get raped" dresses...like damn.

    1. For boobs, see anything on Showtime and sometimes HBO. Showtime is more reliable with that stuff. Starz will flash a couple too.

Wait. Why are we helping you with this? You think some girls want to get raped. Troll.

    2. Nah..I didn't mean it that way. I'm sorry if it was offensive. I was just trying to make a joke of the kind of clothes they wear on the show/at a high school/etc....and just being dirty.

I'd also say The Killing is pretty much similar to this show. Though, PLL is a much superior show.

I tried watching 2 episodes of Teen Wolf but couldn't enjoy any of the acting.

I'm looking forward to The Best TV Villain and The Best TV Deaths.

Awkward. and Parenthood are two other shows I'd recommend.

    3. Haha, thanks for clarifying. It's kind of a soft spot in society, because cops and courts used to say girls WERE asking to be raped if they dressed a certain way. They used to actually use that argument to get rapists off.

The acting on MOST teen shows is rough. Secret Life has the worst acting. We love Parenthood, but haven't gotten into Awkward yet.

    4. Secret Life definitely has bad acting, but honestly, most of it is because of the horrendous acting. Shailene Woodley can act (as shown in The Descendants), but the writing is so repetitive and unrealistic that it's probably hard to elevate it to "good".

Also, speak for yourself, Ern. Leeard loved the first season of Awkward. and is looking forward to the next.

    5. This is information I should have been told, lol.

    6. I don't mind the acting on The Secret Life. I disliked the acting on Teen Wolf and The Nine Lives of Chloe King. I was addicted to Secret Life until my TV schedule got crazy and I had to drop it..haha. Shows have to be cable quality good now. I don't have room for decent shows! haha

  3. Can't wait to read your Hunger Games review. I haven't read the books, but I really want to see the movie. It looks very good. Your suggestions for non PLL shows were good...Switched @ Birth: When 1st hearing about it I thought it would be cheesy, but I ended up really liking it. Make It or Break It: Have liked it from day 1. Also really like Teen Wolf & Hart of Dixie. Revenge is probably my favorite new show this year. So good on every level: acting, writing, music, etc. Anyway...I really enjoy reading this blog & I hope y'all keep it up for a long time!

    1. Thanks!

The Hunger Games books are really good AND really short. They move really quickly with hardly any boring parts, if any. We don't know if it would be confusing for someone to see the movie without reading the first book, but it might be. The books are better, so if it's an option, you should totally read the first one before you see the movie. It would take you a day, even if you aren't usually a reader.

  4. Just finished today the last episode of PPL. ARGH! I want more! I have a desperate hunger here LOL.

I downloaded 2 Broke Girls which is as much similar to PPL as a stone is similar to a cupcake, but I thought the trailer was good and something airy is really wanted after days of 'A' theories and plotting.

My favourite character is definitely Spencer, but I also really like Hannah, Toby and even Jenna (she is less annoying than she used to be).
Honestly, the only character I don't really like is Aria. She is only complaining and weeping about her boring relationship, terrorising her parents and pretending to be soooooo grown up (but isn't). Gets on my nerves! Why doesn't she just let Fitz go and get a more entertaining, cuter boyfriend (because IMO Fitz isn't superhot or anything)?

    1. Aria spends most episodes thinking about Mr. Fitz, plotting to be with him, dealing with her family drama, or actually being with Mr. Fitz. That means she's out of the real action a lot of the time. Even though she handles herself well when she actually gets to do something related to A, Aria is never engaged in her own show.

We are 2 Broke Girls fans around here, especially after the first five or so. One of us thought it had a rocky start.
