Cougar Town saved! (and other news about other shows/our reactions)

If you haven't heard already, today TBS saved Cougar Town from cancellation and has bought all the rights to it. There will be another season of the show. We love when this happens, and we can think of no more deserving show. Thank you, TBS!

Lots of other shows have been renewed and cancelled, but we haven't gotten around to talking about it yet. Stupid exams! Alcatraz has been cancelled, and you know what? We don't care. Yeah, we watched and covered it a lot, but it was more due to the possibility that it could get good. It wasn't actually good yet. The pilot and one other episode were good, but mostly it deserves scorn. The Finder was also cancelled, to the joy of Ern and the mild disappointment of Leeard.

30 Rock was renewed for one more season. This is good. The show needs to start coming in for a landing, but it shouldn't end this year. Parenthood was renewed! Amazing, amazing, amazing. Love that show. Touch was renewed as well. When it came out of the gate, we really liked it, but we aren't sure the sweet concept is working out well, long-term. We hope this show does its homework and fixes its problems for the second season.

The Vampire Diaries unsurprisingly got another season, and can we say "rejoice?" Rejoice. Supernatural has also been renewed, and we have finally started watching it. We are done with season one. Ern thinks it's cheesy as heck but is willing to keep watching it. We also need to catch up on Person of Interest. We got behind, but it's been renewed, so we need to give it attention.

Grey's Anatomy is near deals with a few main characters who were at risk of leaving. We will put their names in the comments so that you aren't spoiled as to who might be staying for the next two years. Shonda confirmed a while ago that a character will be dying horribly in this year's finale. We will put our guess for that death in the comments as well.

Finally, a commenter has just informed us that Community was renewed today. This is not surprising, but we are concerned that there will only be 13 episodes. How can we survive with only 13 episodes?

P.S. We are seeing The Avengers tomorrow. Wooo hooo.

---Update---
ABC Renewed: Grey's, Revenge, Castle, Once Upon a Time, The Middle, Suburgatory, and Modern Family. No surprises there.

  1. Grey's Anatomy characters whose actors are in talks to return for another two years: Cristina, Meredith, Derek, and Alex.

Character who is probably biting the big one: Callie. Possibly Arizona. Hopefully April.

  2. POI, Parenthood, Cougar Town, The Vampire Diaries, Touch (Better then Terra Nova and Alcatraz, imo. Better acting as well..even with a couple of problems, it's a nice show to watch.), Southland (took a long ass time along with Parenthood.), Fringe,

NBC has some pretty good stuff coming based on the descriptions. The other networks, not so much. Oh...Kevin Williamson's project seems promising. All the networks have sucky titled shows, though.

One show I'm really hoping to return is Nikita. If you guys dropped the show (I know you guys went back to it and covered parts of season 2)....you should really check it out. It has some of the most awesome moments on TV.

Waiting for renewal: Community, Parks & Recreation, Happy Endings, Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23 (I did not think I would like the show as much as I do....but it has won me over pretty fast. And I have also accepted the title...because the opening is pretty good and the show has been delivering some great stuff and it has only aired 5 episodes....)ABC, just renew most of your shows.

Network shows I'll check out if renewed/already renewed: The Good Wife, The Secret Circle, Supernatural, Suburgatory, and maybe The Middle

Another show that needs to be picked up by another network: Awake (AMC/FX, this would look good on your line-up.)

Stuff I need to check out non TV related: The Avengers

Stuff I want cancelled: Whitney, Are You There, Chelsea?, Exams

    1. Good Wife and Secret Circle are highly recommended by us. Suburgatory is medium-level recommended by us.

As for Awake, we've been meaning to say that this show looked awesome, we love the cast, and it started out great, but we are annoyed that it's mostly just a cop procedural and has dropped all its mythology. We are wondering where it's going at this point.

Re Nikita: We've found that show to be best on a binge at the end of each season, rather than a week-to-week show. Some good shows are just better 22 episodes at once. Some good shows actually aren't (Happy Endings gets a little loud after about three at one time). We will catch up in the summer!

    2. These renewal/pick ups are making me refresh TV sites instead of studying for exams or working on my assignments. MORE RENEWAL NEWS, PLEASE! :)

    4. It would be pretty awesome for TBS to pick up Community. (or Comedy Central since they bought syndication rights)Let's hope Cougar Town does good numbers. Spread the love for the Turner networks (TBS for Cougar Town and TNT for Southland. Sadly, TNT cancelled Men of a Certain Age. Oh well)

    5. Comedy Central would be ideal for Community

  3. Ugh I started watching Alcatraz because it was supposed to be good but it really wasn't ,but it's so annoying because I still want to see some answers! Ugh
Loving Person of Interest right now

    1. Alcatraz was advertised as a serial and turned out to be a procedural, and not a good one at that. Hopefully someone comes out and tells us the answers/whole story though.

  5. Next season needs to stop with the hiatuses. :( Some shows just can't return back to normal ratings or higher like CBS shows.

    4. On the plus side: So many good bubble shows got renewed this season. (or shows that were no longer in danger such as Community) Only sad for Awake since that was one of the best network shows this season. Very happy and extremely satisfied, though.

    5. Oh yeah still waiting for Don't trust the B---- in Apt 23. That show deserves renewal.

    6. It's true. Overall, we're happy. But I LOVED Secret Circle.

    7. Yey, Don't Trust the B---- in Apt.23 is renewed. I think that's about it haha. Ern is probably annoyed of getting comment notifications.

Now, I'll have to wait for the schedules. Schedules are fun as well but not as exciting as renewals. :D And trailers..ohh goodness.

    1. I usually don't watch cartoons other than South Park (as you probably know), but I can't deny that looks pretty decent.

Leeard watches all sorts of cartoons.

  8. NOOOOOOOOOOOO THEY CANCELLED THE SECRET CIRCLE WTF!!!!!! :'( :'( :'(

  9. I'm a little sorry to see Bent, and The River go, but I knew that they were unlikely choices to be renewed. As long as this final season ends well I think that Eureka had a good run.

Chuck and House lasted long enough, it's good that they've both ended.

For anyone who stuck/sticks it out to the end do any of Alcatraz, Awake, Missing, Ringer, The Secret Circle or Terra Nova have enough merits to watch, or do they generally disappoint or have cliffhanger/unsatisfying endings?

  10. Awake is really good but I had to drop it since my Thursday nights were packed and that the show is in danger of cancellation.
