  1. Wooh. Love this list. THANKS!

    Justified for everything. :D

Suggestion: You should make more categories that fits the genre of the shows. Action, Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror, British shows, Dramedy, Cartoons, etc. This way some shows can also get a bit more noticed.

    1. We actually thought of doing that, but I got lazy. Maybe when there are more shows to sort...Like when they top 100, they will need more sorting.

    2. Also, Justified can be slow for us, and we don't care about any of the characters. But the dialogue is some of the best we've ever heard, anywhere.

      The baddies are good too.

    3. There is no other drama on TV (at least imo) that makes it entertaining to only hear just the diaglogue and that's what so great about Justified.

I find it entertaining hearing some of the stuff on New Girl as well...hardly any boring lines.

    4. That's very true. Maybe some episodes of Louie are like that too. The ones where they talk a lot, rather than the moody ones where he walks around, lol

  2. Have you guys checked out House of Cards? Finishing the first episode now and so far it's alright...

    1. We're about where you are. Almost done with episode one, but the weekend is distracting us from tv and this blog (as you cans see from the lack of posts). And yeah, don't love it, don't hate it.

  3. Okay 2nd and 3rd episode got better for me. Still not as good or as entertaining as most of the stuff on HBO, SHO, AMC, FX, etc.

    1. ..even though they are not similar, I liked Boss a little more.

The Americans, House of Cards, The Following, The Carrie Diaries, Ripper Street and Banshee are all great shows and a great start for the year. Love The Americans. Also, Continuum. Though, that already aired in Canada. (I did not end up watching the show when it first aired so I'm watching it mostly by the U.S. schedule even though I have all the episodes available.)

      Delete
    2. Btw, did you guys like Continuum overall? I remember you reviewed a couple of episodes a while back..

      Delete
    3. Yeah, we liked it. School got crazy, so we had to stop reviewing it, but we turned a few people onto the show by reviewing the first couple, so that's what's important.

Also, both AMC and HBO wanted House of Cards, but Netflix offered more money and total creative control.

    4. and 2 seasons or something, right? :P But thats cool....more money and creative control. I'm planning on watching Ripper Street. I thought it was going to be a mini series but ended up getting renewed for a 2nd season.

  4. I'm going to have to drop a couple of shows. Too much on my schedule, haha. I dropped Vegas, The Neighbors, and I might drop out of Smash. (I think Nashville and Glee are enough. Nashville has a nice feel/tone for it so far...and it's enough for me to give it time. Glee because it's mostly just fun to watch.) The Mindy Project is watchable but wouldn't care if it were canceled. Ben & Kate deserves to live!! :'(

I want Pretty Little Liars to end in 2 seasons...I don't want to drop the show but beyond that is too long for me to handle the mystery.

Yay @ How I Met Your Mother ending. Mondays have become packed for me now. haha...used to be the least watched night for a while for me.

Once Dexter ends, that will clear one less show and possibly add one new show on Sunday. (possibly more) I think it needs one more season after this coming season, though.

Waiting for Bates Motel, Defiance, and Hannibal. Those sound pretty exciting. :)

Great shows of the year so far:
    - Banshee
    - House of Cards
    - The Americans
    - The Carrie Diaries
    - The Following

    Gotta check out:
    - Ripper Street

Also, Dragon: Riders of the Berk (started out last season...It's a How to Train Your Dragon series and it looks really good and I heard great things about it)

  5. It happens. If I were you though, I'd watch a few of this season's Smash episodes, since they are overhauling it and making so many changes.

    1. Well...the ratings are in and the show flopped. I'll wait to see next week's numbers.

  6. What about Castle? I'm so sad that one of my favourite shows isn't included in the list.

    1. Obviously that means Leeard didn't edit this list....That's one of her favorite shows. I've still only seen a few episodes, but I'll add it on her behalf.

  7. where's the middle? Would seriously recommend it!

    Replies
    1. It's not really our kind of comedy (it's probably targeting an older crowd), so we haven't really given it a chance, but we hear great things about it.

      Delete
    2. Well I wouldn't be part of an older crowd target audience as I'm 18 and neither would my friends who recommended it. Just thought I'd give it a mention anyways as I agree with your list and everything I watch is on it bar The Middle!

    3. We'll put it on our list then. Thanks :-)

    4. And thanks to your blog I've started watching Community and Cougar Town and really enjoying both. Thanks!

    1. You know, I've watched the first season. I want to watch more, and it's pretty good, but I'm not QUITE ready to put it on the list yet. We shall see.

  10. 3 months in and we have shows like Banshee, The Americans, House of Cards, The Carrie Diaries. I also enjoy The Following (I know it has plenty of problems) Tomorrow is the premier of Bates Motel (yall going to watch it?) In a month, Defiance and Hannibal. This year seems like it's going to be the best or one of the best years of TV. TV is not dead.

    2. Agreed! A&E and BBC America are stepping up their game as well...as well as premium networks such as Starz and Cinemax.

  11. What about Supernatural????? One of the best shows on today...

    1. I have a special place in my heart for that show and I still watch it. But it's about three years past the quality needed for this list. Seasons 2-5 were gold. 6-7 were horrible. 8 is just alright. If the quality ever goes back to 2-5, we'll put it up here.

  12. Do you guys watch Orphan Black? It's actually a really good show. I think if you enjoyed the acting performance by Toni Collette on United States of Tara, you'll enjoy this one (multiple characters). Not similar shows...but yeah...it's fun to watch and smart.

  16. sherlock or supernatural?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As far as quality, Sherlock. But Sherlock only has three episodes. Granted, they are long episodes and more like mini movies, but it's a lot easier to make sure your three episodes per season are quality than to sustain greatness over 22 episodes per season for eight years. And Sherlock has Doyle's stories to draw heavily from. Sherlock is a great character and Benedict Cumberbatch plays him with all the Asperger's Sherlock deserves. We love when that side of him is fully tapped.

Supernatural isn't technically as good and it has some God-awful hours, but we prefer it just because we've spent more time with the boys. They are both shows a person can get obsessed with and they are both good.

    2. Supernatural isn't on this list bc it hasn't been great since seasons 4-5.

  17. what about revenge? season 2 was amazing, especially the finale. that's great television.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Disagree. Revenge ssn 2 waffled between boring and stupid. The finales of that show are always good, but the middle pulls it down

  18. pretty little liars, really? please tell me your rationale for still liking/watching it. you have such lucid observation on other shows I just find it hard to believe you see any salvage-able quality in it, especially this season.
