Being Human- Season 3, Episodes 1-4

Finally, this show is back. We forget about it when it's gone (whereas we pine for Girls, Game of Thrones, and Breaking Bad almost daily), but once we realize it's back, we get pretty excited. The showrunners promised that this show would have more levity this season, and we're surely ready for that. Last season was almost too dark. There were many beard jokes, so we're hopeful. The cliffhangers last season were really rotten. We couldn't wait to find out what happens to the characters.



Turns out, a lot happens. Things we had no idea the show would even THINK about doing happen in the first two episode. Sally comes back from the dead. She's got the body back! And Josh, JOSH, is also human. Yeah, there are catches with both (Sally can't hang with people from her old life and Nora is still a werewolf), but dude...two out of three of the main characters are human right now. Never could have predicted this.

And Aidan...oh man. He was buried alive for more than a year and went a little crazy. Most of the vampires got a deadly disease from drinking humans who had the flu. It's making it hard to get blood. We liked that last season was wrapped up in the season three premiere. Dragging the "Sally in limbo" thing over multiple episodes would have made us crazy. Sally and Josh were reunited with Aidan in the very beginning of episode two.

There's no change in the level of interest the show generates in its plots. We still love and care about the characters. Now we have creepy witches and Sally killing humans unintentionally too. Actually...about that. We love Sally, but we didn't love her there. Not heeding the witch's warning and hanging out with that guy was so dumb. She HAD been drinking, but we still couldn't believe how callous she was.

We don't think any rational human would ever do that, especially after seeing the things Sally has seen. She knows the supernatural world has consequences. She's luck they weren't more horrific. We expected her body to start rotting away in front of the guy. This is the one time she's really annoyed us.

Nick, Stevie and Zoe are gone for now, which is good. They've served their purposes. Henry came back, briefly, which we also liked. After seeing Aidan dabble in darkness so much in the last season, it's wonderful to see his conscientious side again. When he freed Henry's human girl, we knew the real Aidan was back. They really need to solve that blood supply problem though. The grief over Henry was also interesting.

We saw that moment between Aidan and Sally in the second episode. We didn't immediately hate it. We trust these writers. They've been fairly consistent. If they want to take Aidan and Sally there, we're down to watch it. Their dancing to retro music was adorable, and we like that Sally was the one to pull Aidan out of his funk. His relationship with Josh has been well established. It's time to have Sally helping the guys out. We like that the show moved him forward, through this incident, quickly.

We weren't pleased to see the continuation of the Nora, Connor, and Brynn drama, but we like Liam so far. He's direct, strong, passionate, and brave. Obviously, he's also trouble. We aren't sure about Erin. Nora and Josh already have enough going on without taking in a teen werewolf who periodically runs away. They have their relationship, messed-up Sally and Aidan, and Liam to contend with. That kind of situations is difficult at the best of times.

Nora's brother and parents DEFINITELY need to disappear. To think we thought that Nora was just a side character who would be gone soon when we first met her. Now we know so much about her, and she's as much of a main character as anyone in the trio. How perfect was Josh with the unconditional love in the last episode? We're kind of falling in love with him, especially now that he doesn't go furry.

Donna the witch is great. We love that she eats the souls of Sally's friends. We also like the funeral director. Could he be a potential love interest for Sally? Here's to a Suren-free season! Yay! (She was so useless).
