Nashville season 1, episodes 15-18

Man, are we behind on shows or what? Well, here's one we're caught up on. After a string of good episodes, this show went back to having a few snoozy plots. We didn't care about Gunnar's angst after his brother died and we didn't like how badly he treated Scarlett during those first few days.

It's understandable, but still lame. At least she had the balls to call him out on it and say it sucked. Another boring storyline? Deacon dating his veterinarian who lives in Nashville and doesn't like country music. Poor girl. Mercifully, that relationship probably ended last night...more on that later.

We've loved Juliette taking responsibility by paying for the medical care for everyone hurt at her small show. Shortly after that, she agreed to participate in family therapy with her mom, which went pretty well until she boned the counselor. He totally manipulated her into it though. Thus started one of the dumbest ever storylines that we're going to forget happened.

That was a terrible decision, but at least it's over. Maybe she will apologize to Deacon and the rest of her band for mistreating them during The Dante Weeks? No matter how many times she destroys her own relationships, we continue to care about this girl. And she's grown up from her shoplifting days at least.

Teddy has sucked a little less too. Partnering with Cole and taking on Lamar were cool moves. We also loved that he dumped Peggy this week. However, his rash and impulsive action in canceling Lamar's contracts was dumb (and is probably going to bite him and make him uncool again in the following weeks).

Back to Gunnar...He should totally partner with Scarlett and make a few albums while perfecting his solo work and getting more than one good song. THEN, he should branch out, using the name he built as a duo, and start putting out solo stuff. Why not do both? The Rayna deal is a great deal.

We really aren't invested in that Gunnar/Scarlett relationship. We like the music they make together though. Yes siree, that sounds good on our iPods. If they break up as a duo, who cares if they break up as a couple? We'd like it. That relationship has all the heat of a fish's stomach. Or some analogy that's a little less weird. Deacon and Rayna blow them away.

We are ignoring Avery completely until he doesn't something worth mentioning. Rayna's daughters do the Lumineers better than the Lumineers do. We are sick of that song, but that was a great cover. Can we have more of those girls singing, please?

The show is trying to humanize Lamar after months of one-dimensional behavior. Hahahahahaha. Too little, too late, show. We're ready for the Tandy Takeover.

We knew Will was gay immediately. Wouldn't it have been great if Gunnar was into it?

Rayna and Deacon hooked up last night, just when it looked like she was going for Liam instead. Finally. This show has been dancing around that all year. It was great too.

My Heart Would Know: B+
Take These Chains from My Heart: A-
(Can we get a few song titles without the word "heart" in it? Jeez)
