Game of Thrones season 3, episode 9

The Rains of Castamere- It's been 12 hours, so now we're ready to write about the Red Wedding. Even reading the books couldn't have fully prepared us for the visceral shock and tragedy of that scene.

For one thing, they added Talisa to the mix. In the books, Robb's wife was far from the Twins and fans speculated that she might be pregnant and have the heir to the north tucked away until he was ready to rule. Since George R.R. Martin has a hand in the show, it's safe to say that whatever becomes of Jeyne Westerling (Robb's wife's name in the books), she is not important.

The worst visual was Talisa getting stabbed repeatedly in the stomach. After that, Robb just gave up. He was in more shock than we were. Cat, bless her, fought to the end.

We loved that she killed that young girl. That's just who she is. A stone heart. She definitely keeps HER word.

A lot of people say they don't like Robb Stark, to which we say, "We don't like you. He was hot and perfect."

A lot of people say he deserved it for not listening to his mom, not playing the social politics game well enough, and breaking his word. To which we say…yeah, but does the punishment really fit the crime? Overkill.

It's safe to say that Leeard cried a lot. The betrayal and the happy wedding (and such a brutal one at that) was a gut punch.

Ern watched it with family, and they are still mad at her for getting into the show in the first place so they could feel this level of depressed stunned. Ern's brother said, "I'm so depressed about it and there's nothing I can do about it."

One other thing we are upset about this week was Jon Snow ditching Ygritte, after she has been nothing but good to him. She annoys a lot of people, but we think she's smart, funny, and adorable. Poor Ygritte.

The writer of the series said the Red Wedding had to happen and that if someone dies and we just move on without any emotion, it's just shallow, popcorn entertainment. Brutal shocks are usually shallow. But not this time.

Episode grade: A
